When You Are in the Valley
Scripture: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me.” — Psalm 23:4
There are seasons in life when the path dips low—when burdens feel heavier, prayers seem quieter, and hope appears distant. These are the valleys. They are not places we choose, yet they are places we all must walk through.
Notice that David says, “I walk through the valley.” The valley is not your destination—it is a passage. It may feel long, but it is not permanent.
In the valley, God does some of His deepest work:
- He teaches us to trust when we cannot see.
- He strengthens our faith when we feel weak.
- He reminds us that His presence is not dependent on our circumstances.
Mountaintops are inspiring, but valleys are transforming.
Even when shadows surround you, remember: a shadow can only exist where there is light. God is near—closer than you think, walking beside you, guiding every step.
Prayer
Lord, when I find myself in the valley, help me to remember that You are with me. Give me strength to keep walking, faith to keep trusting, and peace to rest in Your presence. Remind me that this valley is not the end of my story. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflection Thought
You are not stuck—you are passing through. And God is walking with you every step of the way.
